Zero data retention
Zero data retention is available as an option on every Borg plan. It stays off until you ask for it, and you decide whether your organization needs it.
What it means
If you ask for zero data retention, Borg does not keep the content of your prompts or the model's responses after a request has been answered. Borg does not use customer content to train Borg's general-purpose AI models without the customer's separate, explicit agreement.
What it does not cover
If you ask for it, zero data retention applies to the content of requests, and only for models and features that support it. It does not automatically cover:
- account and workspace information
- billing and usage records, such as request counts and timing
- security logs
- content you choose to store, such as workspace memory and files
- connected apps and third-party tools
- requests flagged for abuse, and anything we must keep to meet a legal duty
- a model provider's own systems, as described below
Model providers
Borg sends each request to a model provider, and every provider has its own retention rules. Several providers make zero data retention available only to approved customers, on their own terms, and they exclude some models and features, such as batch jobs, file storage and web search. Coverage therefore differs by model. If you ask for zero data retention, we identify the covered models and any exceptions in your agreement.
How to ask for it
Email [email protected], or tell your Borg contact, that you want zero data retention. We confirm the scope in writing before it is turned on for your organization.
