What Is Borg Fusion?
Borg Fusion is Borg's model-routing system: it picks a model and effort for each request. You can also select a model lane directly when you want to name the model yourself.
What Borg Fusion does
Fusion lets you send work without choosing a separate model for every task. Borg says it can use fast, inexpensive models for everyday work and frontier models when needed.
Borg includes models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, Moonshot AI, and other makers. The model directory lists models and makers. Fusion is a routing choice; selecting a direct lane means choosing a model yourself.
Fusion chooses a model for each request; a direct lane lets you name it.
Three profiles for different work
Borg offers Coding, Design, and Fast profiles. Their names give a starting point: Coding for code-centered tasks, Design for design work, and Fast when speed is the main need. They are Borg Fusion lanes, not model makers.
For coding, start with Borg Fusion Coding. If you already know which model you want, choose it directly. The directory includes options such as GPT-5.6 Sol and Kimi K2.7 Code.
For visual or design-oriented work, start with Borg Fusion Design. For requests where a quick response matters most, try Borg Fusion Fast. You can browse all model makers to compare models yourself.
When to choose a lane directly
Choose a direct model lane when you have a specific model in mind, need a workflow to stay on that model, or want to test one model against another. Model pages include Borg lane IDs. For examples, compare Claude Sonnet 5.5 and GPT-5.5.
Use Fusion when you want Borg to select the model and effort. Use a named profile when the work points clearly to Coding, Design, or Fast. Use a direct model when control over the exact model matters more than routing.
Choose between routing and direct selection based on the task.
A simple way to start
Begin with the task. Try Coding for code, Design for design, and Fast when response speed is the priority. For other work, use Borg Fusion or explore the directory and select a lane yourself.
Both Fusion and direct lanes provide ways to work with models included in Borg. Fusion handles model selection for each request; direct selection lets you name the model. Switch between them based on the work in front of you.
FAQ
What is Borg Fusion?
Borg Fusion chooses a model and effort for each request from models available through Borg.
How do the Coding, Design, and Fast profiles differ?
They are distinct Fusion lanes for different kinds of work. The profile names indicate the intended task focus.
Can I choose a model directly?
Yes. Choose a model lane when you want to specify the model instead of letting Borg Fusion route the request.
